Lobe pump can handle products with solid particles (e.g. cherries and olives), slurries, pastes and a wide variety of liquids. Smooth pumping minimises product damage. They provide a continuous flow of product and can also be operated in dosing mode using a stepper motor or frequency converter. A special feature of this type of pump is the ability to operate in reverse mode and to run in dry mode for short periods of time.
Flow is relatively independent of changes in process pressure, so performance is relatively constant and continuous.

Lobe pump is a type of positive displacement pump. It is similar to a gear pump, except that the blades are designed in such a way that they almost touch rather than touch and rotate relative to each other.
